Clemson University Lyceum Scholars Program The Lyceum Scholars Program is an initiative where accepted students study the moral, political, and economic foundations of a free society. Scholars take a series of eight classes together over their four years, classes such as Wisdom of the Ancients, American Political Thought and the capstone course, Wisdom of the Moderns. The Program uses a “Great Books” approach to studying the history of liberty, the American Founding and the idea of moral character. This unique curriculum develops students’ intellectual faculties, ignites their passion for knowledge, and promotes the development of character traits necessary to succeed in life. Scholars are paired with faculty mentors (called Socratic tutors), who guide their intellectual development throughout the program. Via this one-on-one mentorship, Lyceum Scholars transcend the classroom and learn to apply theory to their own lives. The program is now accepting applications for Fall 2018. The priority application deadline is December 11, 2017. Students accepted into this program receive $10,000 scholarships to Clemson University.
